Paul von Thurn and Taxis (1843-1879) comes from one of the most respected and richest royal houses in Bavaria. At a young age, he becomes a good friend and advisor to King Ludwig II. His rises to the highest political circles, however, it ends abruptly as the family Thurn und Taxis names him a "black sheep" and he is removed from the princely dynasty, Richard Wagner and Cosima von Biilow dismissed him morally. Paul is forced to adopt a new identity. Under the name of Paul von Fels, he marries the pianist Elise Kreuzer, who comes from a Jewish-Christian artistic family, and strives for a career in the theater.
