Princess Maria of Preussen (Cronicle of a tragic life 1855-1888) was the eldest daughter of Prince Friedrich Karl, he was also know as 'the red prince'. At the age of 22 she married off Prince Henry of the Netherlands, a 35 year age difference. Prince Henry was the youngest brother of the Dutch King William III. The marriage lasted 5 months, Henry died of measles. She kept her own court for more than 6 years, in the Summer in The Hague, Palace Lang Voorhout and in the Winter Palace Soestdijk. In 1885 she married Prince Albert of Saksen-Altenburg and after the birth of her second daughter she died in 1888, 32 years old. The baby was baptised next to her mother's coffin.
