Princess Maria of Preussen (Cronicle of a tragic life 1855-1888) was the eldest daughter of Prince Friedrich Karl, he was also know as 'the red prince'. At the age of 22 she married off Prince Henry of the Netherlands, a 35 year age difference. Prince Henry was the youngest brother of the Dutch King William III. The marriage lasted 5 months, Henry died of measles. She kept her own court for more than 6 years, in the Summer in The Hague, Palace Lang Voorhout and in the Winter Palace Soestdijk. In 1885 she married Prince Albert of Saksen-Altenburg and after the birth of her second daughter she died in 1888, 32 years old. The baby was baptised next to her mother's coffin. The tragedy continues in the lives of Olga and Maria... Hardback, 194 pages with 112 illustrations, only available in the Dutch language.
