Büschel, Hubertus - Hitlers adliger Diplomat

Büschel, Hubertus - Hitlers adliger Diplomat
In this new book "Hitler's aristocratic diplomat - The Duke of Coburg and the Third Reich" tells the renowned historian Hubertus Büschel on the basis of new sources from the family archive how a British prince in Germany becamer an admirer of Hitler. Carl Eduard was a grandson of Queen Victoria and in 1905 Regent in Coburg. In 1927 he invited Adolf Hitler to a funeral for Houston Stuart Chamberlain to Coburg. Thanks to Carl Eduard's influence Coburg became the first Nazi-ruled city in Germany. For the general election in 1932, the Duke issued a call to vote for Hitler. As representative of the "Third Reich" and his international connections he had the power to make Nazism acceptable, and later denied as president of the German Red Cross the horrors of the concentrioncamps. The support for Nazism by German and European aristocracy has long been underestimated. This biography of the Duke of Coburg illustrates how the aristocracy made an effort to restore their own power by making a pact with the Nazis. Hardback, 13x20 cm, 336 pages, few illustrations, in German, 1st print and signed by the author.
