Lundberg/Svanholm - Tuxen

Lundberg/Svanholm - Tuxen
Laurits Tuxen (1853-1927), a Royal painter. In this book the art historians Thyge F√łnss-Lundberg and Lise Svanholm tell the story of the royal portraits he painted of the English, Russian, Danish and Greek royal families. The iconic painting of 'Europe's grandfather', Christian VIIII with his family at Fredensborg Castle, is one of his most famous works. Tuxen painted the Tsar family of Russia, the Danish royal family, Queen Victoria and much more. This book shows not only the life of Tuxen but also his oeuvre. With a focus on royal images, Tuxen was seen as one of the most important court painters in Europe. The book covers the royal portraits and paintings of Tuxen, and shows in full and in detail well known paintings (such as the 60-year jubilee celebration of Queen Victoria in St. Paul's Cathedral) and lesser-known paintings that have not been published before. These royal paintings are a must for all art and royal history lovers. Hardback edition, 252 pages, fully illustrated, in Danish.
