Empress Auguste Victoria (1858-1921) was the first lady for three decades, experiencing both the splendour and the fall of the German Empire. She fulfilled her duties as a wife and mother - following the role model of the time - with a sense of duty, discipline and gentleness. What set her apart, however, was her commitment to socially disadvantaged people and the promotion of ecclesiastical institutions. For this comprehensive biography, author Jörg Kirschstein was also able to evaluate private letters that allow for intimate insights into imperial family life. The result is a new image of Auguste Victoria, which partly contrasts with the perception of her contemporaries and progeny: the first comprehensive biography of the last German Empress - with more than 150 photos, some of which have not been previously published. 192 pages, German, 150 black / white images, size: 225 x 245 mm, hardback edition.
