Farah Pahlavi, Empress of Iran, is one of the most remarkable personalities of our time. Farah Diba, a young student at the Fine Arts in Paris, became the wife of the Shah of Iran in December 1959 at the age of 21. A mother of four, she shares the great times and vicissitudes of Mohammad Reza's reign. She carried out a lot of social and cultural work with him and accompanied or represented him on numerous official trips abroad. Her activities earned her a crown from the Shah in 1967, the first wife of a sovereign in a Muslim country, proving before the eyes of the whole world a staggering progress in the status of women.
